Frequently Asked Questions

"How long should I stay in therapy?"

Everyone's therapy journey is different and how long you stay in therapy will depend on your specific therapy needs, barriers, and treatment goals. We will discuss this more in your intake session and work together to figure out what is best for you.

"How often should I have sessions?"

When I first start working with a client, I recommend scheduling sessions once/week for the first 4 weeks. This gives us an opportunity to build rapport and trust faster so you can feel comfortable before diving into the "work" of therapy. After that first month we will reassess frequency based on your individual therapy needs, goals, and barriers.

"What if I want coaching & therapy? Can I do both?"

Therapeutic relationships and coaching relationships look extremely different. Therapy is clinically focused on mental health and symptom management, while coaching is focused more on personal growth, identifying barriers, and creating action steps to accomplishing your goals. Because of this, I do not provide both coaching & therapy services at the same time to the same client. However, once a therapy client "graduates" and is able to effectively manage mental health symptoms, they can transition to a coaching client if they would like.

"Do you take insurance?"

I do not accept insurances and I am not an Out Of Network (OON) Provider.       I am a fully self-pay practice. Here's a couple reasons why:

  1. You as the client can be in control of your care including choosing your therapist, length of treatment, frequency of sessions, etc.
  2.  Increased privacy and confidentiality (except for limits of confidentiality).
  3. Not having a mental health disorder diagnosis on your medical records.
  4. Working with me on non-psychiatric issues that are important to you that aren’t billable by insurance, such as learning how to cope with life changes, managing relationship conflict, etc.

"Do you provide telehealth sessions?"

Yes! I offer the choice of in-person sessions at my office located in downtown St. Petersburg, or virtual sessions through a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform.

Requirements for telehealth sessions:

1. You must be located within the state of FL at the time of your session.

2. Have access to a room that is quiet, private, and free of distractions (for confidentiality reasons).

3. Use headphones with a microphone.

4. Have a webcam.

5. Have a solid internet connection. The platform I use recommends 10–15 mbps for optimal performance/quality.
