Therapy for Anxiety in St. Petersburg, FL

What is anxiety?

Anxiety can show up in many different ways, but in general it can be described as the feelings of dread, fear, and nervousness. Experiencing anxiety (and any emotion in general) is a normal part of being a human. However, if it gets to the point where the anxiety feelings are getting in the way of you living your life, then it's no longer your "average anxiety" feelings. How does anxiety show up for you? Keep reading to see if any of these sound familiar for you.

Physical symptoms of anxiety

A lot of people don't connect physical wellbeing to anxiety. Some common physical responses are: muscle tension, nausea, GI issues, sweating, crying, feeling tired or fatigued, tightness in chest, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, difficulty with sleep, decreased appetite, headaches, bodily pain, feeling restless, lightheadedness, fast &/or short breathing, decrease in sex drive, or vomiting.

The "anxious brain"

You'll hear me refer to our "anxious brains" often in our work together. What goes on inside anxious brains? Constant worry about.. well it could be anything really lol Worrying people are judging you, worrying about people knowing that you're feeling anxious, worrying about feeling anxious, worrying about the future, worrying about finances, worrying about relationships, being fearful something bad will happen, etc. Sometimes we can find ourselves stuck in this thought loop where it becomes so consuming and debilitating that it can lead to depression feelings, and cause physical implications.

Holistic Treatment for Anxiety

In our work together, I take an individualized approach based on your needs. While we can't ever get rid of anxiety (sorry I'm not a magician! lol), my goal is to teach you the tools to independently manage the anxiety feelings, both preventatively and in the moment so YOU CAN CONTROL the anxiety vs. the anxiety controlling you.
